Step through the hidden door and you’ll find Eleanor’s, a cozy speakeasy named after one of Unsukay’s most cherished friends, mentors, and partners in crime: Eleanor Seale.
Eleanor first crossed paths with our team while finishing culinary school in Atlanta. She wandered into Muss & Turner’s before its official opening, curious about joining the crew. While she certainly had talent in the kitchen, it quickly became clear that her real strength came from her eclectic background—running a doctor’s office, managing an oil company, and even operating a liquor store tucked beneath New York’s 59th Street Bridge. Those experiences gave her a sharpness, grit, and perspective that proved invaluable to us.
More than fifteen years later, Eleanor has become much more than an employee. She’s our financial controller, trusted advisor, and the person we happily defer to when it comes to tasting wine or bourbon. But above all, she’s the heartbeat of our culture: wise, generous, funny, and endlessly supportive.
The speakeasy was created in her honor, reflecting the qualities we love most about her—hospitality, laughter, warmth, and the joy of sharing food and drink with the people who matter most. Eleanor’s is our way of saying thank you to someone who’s had a profound impact on our journey.
So next time you’re at Muss & Turner’s, look for the cooler door. Behind it, you’ll discover not just a bar, but a story—and a celebration of one remarkable woman.
